Real Money Razz Poker

As it is the case with any other type of poker, playing real money Razz games can be a good way to make a living, but a bit of luck is still required in order to keep winning. Skill helps though, so it’s something you should work on consistently. Since the ones you play against are other players, and not the casino dealer, as long as you are better than them you will probably be able to make a living with Razz. In order to get to that point though, a huge amount of practice is required, plus a good understanding of the game and how it’s played.

Razz uses a 52 card deck, out of which each player gets up to 7 cards they can use. The objective is to use those 7 cards to form a hand with 5 cards which has the lowest value at the time of the showdown, if you get that far. There are no flushes or straights in this type of poker, which means that the best Razz hand you can get is A, 2,3,4,5, which is known as a wheel.

Structure of a Real Money Razz Game

If you’ve played 7 card stud before, you should have no problem making the switch to Razz. The game begins with the dealing of three cards, one of them face up, while the others are face down. The $5 – $10 game starts with a $0.50 ante. The player with the highest card (King of spades, followed by King of hearts, of diamonds and of clubs) will bring it in, to $1. If someone wants to raise, the bet is taken to $5.

The fourth card is offered face up once again, with a $5 bet. While the first round required the player with the biggest card to act first, starting from the second round the lowest hand is the one that acts first. During the fifth and the sixth rounds, additional cards are offered, face up, with $10 bets being made. The seventh and the last card is the river and it’s offered face-down. The majority of the Razz poker games will allow the players to go through up to four raises during each round.

Once the last bet is made, the cards will be shown and the dealer will decide who the lowest five card hand has based on the seven cards that they were dealt.

Making Money Playing Razz

The mistake that most beginners make when they start playing Razz for real money is that they forget to check out what the competition has and they also tend to play a lot of hands. Since there are four cards which are offered face-up, each player can look at what others are holding and in some cases they will know that they have no chance of winning, even though there are additional cards to be dealt.

After the fifth round the players can already guess what the best hand of the other players is, a guess which is adjusted once again after the sixth round. The last card, which is face down, can make or break the game, but the failure to recognize a lost game early on can cost beginners quite a bit.

As a beginner that wants to play real money Razz poker, you should focus on learning how to predict what others are holding and whether you still have a chance of winning.
